Technology Intern/Volunteer

Summary
The Technology Department Intern will work closely with the Technology Coordinator to help maximize operations of that department, to facilitate work between the technology and communications departments, and to provide tech support for program staff. Work expectations are 20-30 hours per week during the internship period.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist Technology Coordinator with the implementation of the organization's technology strategy and vision
  • Provide basic technical assistance to staff for Mac OS X systems
  • Assist with producing and compiling Web site reports
  • Assist with tech-related projects
  • Help keep electronic files in order as requested
  • Maintain and update organizational contact database
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Skills:
Interest in and some knowledge of the following areas is a plus:
  • Mac OS X equipment, software, and systems
  • FileMaker Pro or other database system
  • Content Management Systems (CMS) & Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • eConferences, podcasts, blogs, and online resource delivery
  • Social-networking platforms and tools

Qualifications:
Interested candidates should be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program and have knowledge of and interest in technology issues.

Requirements:
  • Positive outlook, enthusiasm, and high energy
  • Self-motivated, with ability to lead, as well as to function as a dependable team player
  • Good organizational skills
  • Proficiency with MSWord and Excel
  • Excellent (oral/written/interpersonal) communication skills
  • Frequent computer use and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
