Grant Coordinator

Position Overview

The Grant Coordinator is a part-time position whose primary duties will be writing and coordinating with staff on the grant proposal and reporting process and participating in various other grant related functions.   The position will require working with the UFE Development and Program Departments.
Reports To: Associate Director of Development.
Type of Position: Part Time Staff.


  • 1-3 years fundraising experience preferred, especially in area of foundation and grant management.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent project management skills - planning, implementing (coordinating the work of others), and evaluating results.
  • Highly organized and able to work on multiple tasks within a specific time frame.
  • Experience writing and editing foundation proposals and reports for internal and external audiences
  • Working knowledge of FileMaker Pro, or equivalent databases.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Honesty, integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality relating to major donors records and other development initiatives.
  • Experience working in Macintosh environment
  • Internet research skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience
Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities
  • Monitor deadlines for letters of inquiry and grant applications, coordinate the collection of materials, and ensure timely submission.
  • Monitor deadlines for grant reports and other foundation communications, coordinate the collection of materials, and ensure timely submission.
  • Coordinate and prepare, or assist in preparation of, necessary foundation reporting and requests.
  • Ensure the FileMaker Pro database, and hardcopy and electronic filing systems are maintained and updated.
  • Provide various internal reports as scheduled or requested.
  • Write and/or assist in writing of grant proposals including project specific and general proposals, as needed and assigned.
  • Provide foundation and donor research support and assistance including initial contact with foundation officers, as needed and assigned.  
  • Coordinate contacts and communication between foundation officers and appropriate staff
  • Work with and provide assistance to Development staff, consultants, interns, and temps on major donor and individual giving fundraising functions, as needed.
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings
