The Tax Fairness Pledge (For the 2006 Tax Year)

The Tax Fairness Pledge (For the 2006 Tax Year)

Tax cuts for the wealthy are hurting our country. You can help stop them.

The lion's share of the tax cuts are going to wealthy people. Now, more than ever, it's crucial we take a public stand against them.

Tax cuts are draining our nation of its capacity to preserve vital services, invest in research and infrastructure, build a strong and sustainable economy, and assure fairness and opportunity.

Existing tax cuts for the wealthiest 1 percent will cost the nation more than $300 million in lost revenues every day for ten years if made permanent.

Join us in saying these irresponsible tax cuts don't reflect our values, and we don't want them. Join us in saying tax cuts for the wealthy should be rolled back, not extended. Join us in the Tax Fairness Pledge.

Since 1998, wealthy taxpayers have been calculating their tax cuts and donating them to efforts to create tax fairness. Please take a moment now to calculate your tax breaks and consider using your savings to support the Tax Fairness Organizing Collaborative.

1. Take the pledge
Yes! I want to take the Tax Fairness Pledge and donate some or all of my tax savings to tax fairness organizing.

2. Figure out how large a tax break you are receiving on your 2006 taxes. Estimate using the "EZ" Tax Break Table (opens in a new window) or calculate using the automatic Tax Break Calculator (opens in a new window). Or, you can print the 1040RW Worksheet (PDF, 36 kb) and fill it out later or ask your accountant.
Enter your total 2006 tax break here:
This is an important part of your participation, even if you don't plan to give this amount away, since we hope to use the total amounts to help with publicity efforts.
