How can tax fairness organizers create an economic justice movement that is more racially inclusive, in which those most affected by economic inequality are actively engaged, setting the agenda, and pushing for change?

Raise the ‘Roots will examine this mission-critical question, exploring actionable tips and strategies for community organizers to connect more effectively with diverse constituencies and for community organizations to become more structurally inclusive.

Participants will learn and share:

  • How to integrate strategic communications into grassroots strategy,
  • How to craft communications that resonate with diverse constituencies,
  • Base-building practices to inform and politically empower people to act,
  • How to get creative, engage the disenfranchised, and rally the base with direct actions,
  • Building and representing a diverse state coalition from the bottom-up.

The Raise the ‘Roots conference is organized by the Tax Fairness Organizing Collaborative (TFOC), a network of state-level grassroots organizations that advocate for progressive and adequate state taxes. The TFOC is a project of United for a Fair Economy, an economic justice nonprofit based in Boston.
