By the end of 2010, the top 5% of households will have received $980 billion in tax breaks from the Bush Tax Cuts. A household with $500,000 of income got a $25,000 tax break in 2009 alone.

Tax cuts for the wealthy made little sense in 2001 and 2003 when they were passed, and it is inexcusable that they are continuing today. It's time to restore the 39.6% and 36% rates on upper-income taxpayers and end the preferential treatment of dividends and capital gains
