Communications Intern for Racial Wealth Divide Project
This intern will support UFE's Racial Wealth Divide project (RWD) by publicizing racial economic disparities and helping to foster a dialogue about ways to reduce racial inequality.
Responsibilities:
- Draft blog posts and produce creative content for distribution via social media re: UFE's tenth annual State of the Dream report
- Develop queue of Facebook posts and schedule weekly tweets
- Assist with media outreach re: State of the Dream 2013
- Track daily headlines for relevant stories for media opportunities
- Draft op-ed outlines and provide research support for RWD content
- Collect and maintain record of media coverage of State of the Dream 2013
- Participate in UFE program meetings, workshops, and other events as schedule permits
- Includes other communications-related tasks, as needed
Helpful Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Familiarity with Mac operating system, Microsoft Office, email distribution web applications (training provided)
- Some familiarity with HTML (and other coding)
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
- Detail-oriented, high standards for quality of work
Schedule & Compensation:
This internship requires a minimum of 16 hours per week. Start and end dates, as well as weekly schedule, are flexible. UFE will provide intern with a monthly MBTA pass.
