Call for Workshops

Raise the ‘Roots’ organizers invite submissions for workshop proposals. Each workshop will be 1.5 hours long and for a group of 15-40 people.

Workshops should seek to provide perspective on how organizations and community organizers can more effectively engage communities of color on tax issues. We encourage submissions that include real-world, grassroots experiences from which fellow attendees can extract practical tips and strategies.

Topics of Interest
Workshop submissions should fall within the scope of our conference theme. Possible workshop topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with ethnic media outlets
  • Messaging and framing pitfalls
  • Cultural values around government and taxes
  • Creative actions that resonate
  • Gender and race
  • How to develop a more multicultural organization

All workshops are 1.5 hours in length and should be prepared for an audience of 15-40 people. Workshop submissions should include:

  1. Proposed title for the workshop
  2. Workshop description (less than 250 words)
  3. Names, phone numbers, and emails of the workshop facilitators/presenters
  4. Brief bios of the facilitators/presenters
  5. A description of how this workshop relates to the conference theme and why it will be of interest to conference participants
  6. A description of the workshop’s format and outline of the workshop, including any discussion points and activities
  7. List of materials and tech needs (flip charts/markers/projector/etc.)
