On Tuesday, December 11th, 2012, UFE's Responsible Wealth project hosted a national press teleconference to announce the first 36 prominent signers of the Responsible Estate Tax Proposal including Warren Buffett, President Jimmy Carter, and George Soros.  The Responsible Estate Tax Proposal calls for setting the estate tax exemption level at $4 million per couple, with a graduated rate starting at 45% in order to raise important revenue to avoid the fiscal slope.

Our featured speakers:
  • Robert Rubin, U.S. Treasury Secretary under President Bill Clinton, currently Co-Chair of the Council on Foreign Relations
  • John C. Bogle, Founder and Former CEO of The Vanguard Group in 1974, which became the country’s second largest mutual fund
  • Abigail Disney, Grandniece of Walt Disney, Filmmaker & Philanthropist
  • Richard Rockefeller, Son of David Rockefeller, currently serves on the board of the Rockefeller Family Fund & Doctors without Borders
  • Bill Gates, Sr., Founding partner of Preston, Gates, LLP (pre-recorded statement)
  • Mike Lapham, Director of the Responsible Wealth Project

After sharing their powerful personal statements in support of a robsut estate tax, the speakers addressed questions from members of the media. Click below to listen to the event.
