Ms. Disney is co-Founder and co-President of the Daphne Foundation, which funds programs that confront the causes and consequences of poverty in the five boroughs of New York City with a particular interest in grassroots and emerging organizations. Since 1991, the Daphne Foundation has made millions of dollars in grants in a variety of areas, ranging from AIDS advocacy to labor struggles to children’s health. Disney’s husband, Pierre Hauser, co-founded and is co-President of the Daphne Foundation.

Currently, Disney serves on the boards of the Roy Disney Family Foundation, the White House Project, the Global Fund for Women, and the Fund for the City of New York, as well as the advisory boards of a broad range of organizations working in the areas of poverty, women’s issues, education and environment. Disney launched Peace is Loud, an organization that supports female voices and international peace-building through nonviolent means.

Disney is the daughter of Roy Disney and grandniece of Disney founder Walt Disney. She has produced a number of documentary films focused on social themes, including the award-winning Pray the Devil Back to Hell, Family Affair, Playground, and Sun Come Up. Pray the Devil Back to Hell won the 2008 best documentary award at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film chronicles the remarkable story of the courageous Liberian women who came together to end a bloody civil war and bring peace to their shattered country.

Disney joined more than 2000 people who expect to owe the estate tax in signing Responsible Wealth’s “Call to Preserve the Estate Tax.”

Disney lives in New York City with her husband and their four children.
