Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrates and recognizes Indigenous communities that have lived in the United States for thousands of years. While today does not make up for past and present treatment of Indigenous Peoples, many Indigenous groups see it as a good first step in recognizing the contributions and struggles of Indigenous Peoples in the US.
