UFE is excited to announce the release of our "Color of Wealth 2021" infographic!
We are excited to release this infographic about the racial wealth divide. This project topic was chosen to commemorate the 15th anniversary of "The Color of Wealth," a book written in collaboration with UFE in 2006.
This groundbreaking book remains an important resource worth reading today. Here are some words from our executive director, Jeannette Huezo, about the new infographic series:
“Even today, the ideas found in "The Color of Wealth" are still very important. Fifteen years ago, race was not on the public radar yet, especially among national nonprofits. I remember the team discussing the importance of researching the rules, laws and policies that protect the status quo (i.e. white supremacy), and the importance of sharing this knowledge with a wider audience in a book format.
“Now everyone is talking about the racial wealth divide and how it has continued to grow! But there’s still resistance to making the real changes we need like reparations, and changing policies on housing, education, healthcare, jobs, wealth distribution, and more.
"It is important to learn how the rules, laws and policies in our country have benefited one group, because if they were made by people, they can be changed for people as well. As a tool of popular education, we hope this new, easy to understand and accessible infographic will be used to generate a dialogue and facilitate a process of collective learning among friends and in our communities.”

We encourage you to share this infographic in celebration of "The Color of Wealth" book, which remains an important resource for fighting economic inequality today. This project reviews and reaffirms the importance of the content and analysis the book provides, which has helped increase understanding of the roots of racialized economic inequality and of the harm caused by racist policies implemented throughout the history of the United States. But most importantly, by updating and releasing as an infographic, we are making the information more accessible and continuing our commitment to the important work of fighting for greater racial and economic justice. There is still much to be done!

El tema de este proyecto fue elegido para conmemorar el 15º aniversario de "El color de la riqueza", un libro escrito en colaboración con UFE en 2006.
Este libro pionero sigue siendo un recurso importante que vale la pena leer en la actualidad. Aquí están algunas palabras de nuestro director ejecutivo, Jeannette Huezo, acerca de la nueva serie infografía:
“Incluso hoy, las ideas que se encuentran en" El color de la riqueza "siguen siendo muy importantes. Hace 15 años, la raza aún no estaba en el radar público, especialmente entre las organizaciones sin fines de lucro nacionales. Este proyecto revisa y reafirma la importancia del contenido y análisis que brinda el libro, que ha ayudado a comprender mejor las raíces de la desigualdad económica racializada y el daño causado por las políticas racistas implementadas a lo largo de la historia de los Estados Unidos.
