On Thursday, March 3, 2022, UFE lost one of our dear friends and a former leader of the organization, Ann Manning, to cancer. Ann stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director for one year, serving from July 2008 through June 2009.
Being an interim director is not an easy job, but Ann brought calm, clarity, warmth, a sense of humor, and a positive and determined attitude toward facing the current challenges of the organization. Even after she left, she stayed in touch, particularly with UFE’s current Executive Director Jeannette Huezo, whom she has supported from afar to this day.
We will miss her presence in our lives, but those of us who had the chance to work with her and know her will carry a bit of Ann forward with us in the struggle for economic justice. Rest in peace, Ann. Below is a link to Ann’s obituary in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
